Quarry trucks and winding roads

Heavy vehicles working the local roads throw stone constantly, and the winding, tree-lined sections add branch strike and gravel wash after rain. Mount Cotton vehicles collect damage at a rate that surprises people who move out here.

Talk it through with a technician
  • Heavy vehicle stone

Truck tyres flick stone at windscreen height. It is the dominant source of damage on these roads.

  • Gravel wash after rain

Grit comes off the shoulders onto the winding seal. The following week is always busy.

  • Acreage and 4WDs

Bigger vehicles, bigger glass, all fitted on site with no call-out fee.

Mount Cotton FAQs

What locals ask

General questions on the full FAQ page.

Why do I get so many chips out here?

Heavy vehicle traffic on the local roads. Truck tyres pick up stone from the shoulder and flick it up at exactly windscreen height for whatever is following, and the winding tree-lined sections add branch strike and rain-washed grit on top. Mount Cotton is genuinely one of the harder areas in our patch on glass.

Is it worth the trip for you to come out here?

Yes, and there is no call-out fee. Mount Cotton is on our Redlands run and we are through this way regularly. It is also one of the areas where a mobile service saves you the most — getting a car from here to a glass shop and back is most of a day.

Should I just wait until I have a few chips to fix at once?

No — that is how a repairable chip becomes a replacement. Each one is 30 minutes and the cheapest job we do, and every week it sits is another chance for a cold morning or a pothole to run it across the screen. If you have several already, call and we will do them in one visit.
