Acreage with a sea breeze

Carbrook sits between the Logan River and Moreton Bay, which means acreage vehicles plus a salt-laden breeze. Salt works on the pinchweld under the glass, and corrosion there is the hidden problem behind a lot of leaks.

Talk it through with a technician
  • Corrosion under the glass

We inspect and treat the pinchweld when the screen comes out. Bonding new glass onto rust guarantees a leak.

  • Floats, wagons and 4WDs

Bigger vehicles are the norm. Larger glass, same on-site service.

  • Room to work

No parking constraints. Somewhere reasonably level near the car is all we need.

Carbrook FAQs

What locals ask

General questions on the full FAQ page.

What is a pinchweld and why does it matter?

It is the painted metal channel around the windscreen aperture that the glass bonds to. In coastal and bay-adjacent areas salt gets under the edge of the glass and rusts it. Bonding a new screen onto corroded metal guarantees a leak within a year or two, so we inspect and treat the pinchweld as part of every replacement rather than sealing over the problem.

Does living near the bay affect my windscreen?

Not the glass itself, but the surrounds. Salt attacks the pinchweld, the rubbers and the cowl fixings, which is why bay-side vehicles are more likely to leak around a windscreen than inland ones of the same age.

Do you come out to Carbrook acreage?

Yes, with no call-out fee. It is on the run between Logan and the Redlands, so we pass through frequently. Long driveways are no obstacle.
