My windscreen is pitted rather than chipped. Can that be fixed?

Pitting cannot be repaired — it is thousands of microscopic impacts across the whole surface rather than one break. The test is night driving: if oncoming headlights scatter into a haze across the glass, the screen is worn out and replacement is the only fix. It is a very common outcome on older cars that live under trees.

Will tree sap damage the glass?

Sap itself cleans off, though it is stubborn once baked on. What does real damage is scrubbing at it with something abrasive, which leaves fine scratches in the wiper sweep. If you have a sappy car, soften the sap first rather than attacking it dry.

Can you come between school drop-off and pick-up?
