Close to the water, close to the salt
Birkdale is near enough to the bay that salt affects the metal around the windscreen. It is why we treat every bayside replacement as a corrosion check as well as a glass job.

Old screen cut out cleanly, the pinchweld prepped and primed, new glass bonded with automotive urethane to the correct bead height.

Door glass, quarter glass and rear windows, including vacuuming the shattered tempered glass out of the door cavity, carpet and seat rails.

Water is getting in around my windscreen but the glass is fine. Why?
Almost always corrosion or a failed seal rather than the glass. Near the bay, salt gets under the edge of the screen and rusts the pinchweld, and once the metal lifts the bond fails. Sealing from the outside rarely holds — the screen has to come out so the metal underneath can be treated properly.
Does living near the water shorten a windscreen's life?
Not the glass itself, but the surrounds. Rubbers perish faster, cowl fixings corrode and the pinchweld rusts. Bayside vehicles are noticeably more likely to have leak or seal problems than inland ones of the same age.
Can you work with the boat trailer in the driveway?
Usually — we need about a metre of clear space down one side of the vehicle. If the trailer is in the way we will ask you to move it or unhitch, which takes a minute and costs nothing.
